Why can't you compare Roblox numbers to social media reach?
An impression is a scroll past. A visit is a person who loaded a world and stayed or left. The two numbers are not on the same scale, and reporting them side by side flatters the wrong one.
The comparison gets made in every planning meeting, and it is the fastest way to make a good Roblox result look small.
The units are different
A social impression records that content was served into a feed. A Roblox visit records that a person loaded an experience and spent time inside it.
Millions of the first and thousands of the second can represent similar attention. Placed in the same table, the second looks like a failure.
Time is the honest common currency
If you need one comparable, use total attention: sessions multiplied by average session time. Roblox defines average session time as total play time divided by the number of sessions each day, so the arithmetic is available.
A world holding people for minutes each session is doing something a feed placement measured in seconds of view time does not do.
Targeting works differently
Ads may not be personalised for users under the age of 18. A media plan built on granular audience targeting needs rewriting before it reaches this platform, and the creative gets approved against a mixed-age room.
That is a planning constraint and also a reason the comparison fails: you are not buying the same thing.
The funnel ends in a different place
A social ad can send someone to a site. A Roblox ad cannot: the permitted destinations are seven named social platforms, and the brand site is not among them. The conversion has to happen inside the world.
So the metric that closes the loop is built into the experience — codes, forms, CRM writes — and it has no equivalent in a reach report.
How to report it without losing the argument
Report Roblox on its own three numbers: visits, average session time, downstream action. Put the cost per engaged player next to the cost per completed view if a comparison is unavoidable, and say plainly which one involved a person choosing to stay.
The framing that survives a board meeting
Reach buys attention that passes. A world buys attention that stays and can be returned to. Both belong in a plan. Judging the second by the first’s scoreboard is how brands cancel things that were working.
Roblox brand activations that outlive the campaign flight
The usual activation goes live, spikes for a week, and is a dead server by the time the wrap deck is circulated. That is a design failure, not a platform limit — and it is avoidable.
