Can you attribute offline sales to a Roblox world?
Yes, through a mechanic that carries an identifier both systems can see: a receipt code, a loyalty ID, a redemption. What each method proves, and where the honest limits are.
Attribution here works the way it works anywhere offline: something has to travel between the two systems. The platform will not hand you a customer identity, so the link is designed into the mechanic.
What the platform will not give you
No personal data. The advertising rules treat email, phone, full legal name, address and financial details as personally identifiable information with restrictions on users sharing it, and the analytics you receive are aggregate.
So attribution is built from something the player carries in deliberately.
The methods, and what each one proves
Receipt code in, reward out. A code printed on a qualifying receipt is entered in the world and unlocks something. This proves a purchase happened and that the buyer reached your world. On a retail project we ran, the code improved the odds on a prize wheel, which gave the player a reason to bother.
Reward out, redemption in. A code earned in play, redeemed at checkout. This proves the world drove a trip. It is the stronger direction commercially and the harder one to make feel earned.
Loyalty ID linking. The player connects an existing loyalty account, and from then on the join is real at the individual level. This needs backend work and a security review on your side — see connecting Roblox to your CRM for what that involves.
Where the limits are
Redemption rates are a floor on effect. People who saw the world, bought and never entered a code are invisible, so a redemption number understates the world’s contribution.
Self-selection runs the other way. The people who redeem were already engaged, so calling the full basket incremental overstates it.
Both distortions are real, and the honest report shows the measured number with a note on each.
How to get closer to incrementality
Hold a market or a region out, if the plan allows it, and compare. Time-box the mechanic and read the sales line around the window. Neither is a clean experiment, and both beat a redemption count reported alone.
Design it before the build
Every method above is a mechanic, a backend and a fulfilment path. Added after launch, it is a new project. Named in the brief, it is a stage in the plan.
Roblox for retail: a game your loyalty program can measure
Retail is the strongest category on Roblox for one structural reason: you already own the checkout, the receipt and the loyalty program. A branded world plugs into all three.
