Vans World: 143 million visits in five years — a teardown of a survivor

The Vans skate park on Roblox has run since 2021 and is still being updated. Its public numbers as of August 2026, and what in its design keeps it alive.

Most branded worlds on Roblox last one season. Vans World is in its fifth year and its numbers are open to inspection. Here is what it does differently.

The public numbers, measured 22 August 2026

Pulled through Roblox’s open API from the experience page:

  • visits — 143,840,337
  • favourites — 659,531
  • rating — 90.5% (247,590 likes against 25,927 dislikes)
  • average session — 5.9 minutes
  • players online at the moment of the check — 91
  • created 14 April 2021, last updated 2 June 2026
  • all-time concurrent peak — 30,335 players, 5 September 2021

Vans passed 100 million visits in August 2023, which the trade press covered at the time. It has added another forty-odd million since.

What is built inside

A skate park and a shop. The player customises an avatar and a board, rides the spots, competes in challenges. The developer was The Gang, a studio that has built branded worlds for several large marques.

The mechanic matches the product literally: Vans sells skate shoes, the world lets you skate. Nobody has to explain to a player why the brand is there.

Why it did not die

Still updated five years in. The last change is dated June 2026. A world a team keeps editing in year five is a product with a maintenance budget, not a campaign.

A mechanic with no expiry. Skating is always available. A promotional mechanic like collecting coupons ends when the offer does, and the world empties by design.

A 90.5% rating. Players upvote because the game is enjoyable on its own terms. This is the case where the brand stays out of the way.

What these numbers do not say

Those 143 million visits accumulated over five years. Today the world holds about a hundred simultaneous players — alive, and small. The peak came in September 2021, shortly after launch, and was never matched again.

Almost every world on the platform works this way: a peak at the start, then a long tail. The difference at Vans is a tail measured in years instead of weeks.

Public counters say nothing about what it cost or what the brand earned in sales. Vans has not published that, and any outside estimate is an estimate.

What to take from it

If your mechanic repeats the thing people buy your product for, the world can run for years. If it is built around a promotion, plan the ending alongside it and expect the empty page a month later.

And budget for updates. Five years of Vans World is the result of work that ran for five years.

What we do about it

Roblox brand partnerships without building from zero

Building your own world means solving discovery yourself. Partnering means renting an audience someone has already earned — faster, cheaper, and with a different set of trade-offs worth understanding before you sign.
