How can you tell a Roblox quote is inflated?

A quote gets checked through its line items, not its total. Which questions to ask, which items must be present, and what gives away an agency pricing from your budget.

Check the line items, not the total. A quote reading “world development — this much” is unverifiable by construction, and that is the first sign the price was derived from your budget.

What the breakdown must contain

Game design. 3D art. Programming. Interface. Audio. Testing. Publishing and passing moderation.

As separate lines: player acquisition, post-launch support, analytics and reporting.

If the last three are missing, the quote covers half the project. You will be asked to top up later, from a weak negotiating position.

Questions that clarify things fast

How many person-hours per line, and at what rate? A sound contractor answers. One who priced from your budget starts explaining that it does not work that way.

What does support include and for how long? “Support included” with no term and no scope is zero.

What happens if moderation asks for changes? The answer should exist before signing.

Which devices do you test on? If mid-range phones are absent from the answer, there is effectively no testing.

Signs of inflation

A round total with no breakdown. A price divisible by a hundred thousand was usually assigned rather than calculated.

A promise of home-page placement. Position in Roblox recommendations is computed from organic player behaviour and cannot be bought. Promising it is either a misunderstanding of the platform or selling air.

A guaranteed CPM. The platform publishes no rate card for ad formats; price comes from the auction.

A visit forecast as a single number. With no range and no stated assumptions, that is a sales artefact.

The contractor owning the group. Not about money, but about the same attitude.

Signs of an underpriced quote

Worth fearing just as much. No support line, an implausibly short build schedule, no device-testing phase. That quote wins the tender and never reaches a working product.

How to compare proposals

Normalise them to one scope. Ask every contractor to price the same list, including support for the same term. After that the totals become comparable and the spread becomes explainable.

What we do about it

A Roblox marketing agency that ships worlds, not decks

Most agencies sell you a Roblox strategy and hand the build to someone else. We do both, and we are judged on the same number you are: how many people showed up and how long they stayed.
