Roblox in Russia: the 2025 block, the 2026 unblock, and what it means for brands

The timeline of Roblox's restriction and restoration in Russia, what is publicly known about the audience there, and how to plan around it.

Anyone planning a Roblox project for the Russian-speaking market runs into the same question first: is the platform available. Here is the documented timeline.

What happened

In December 2025, Roskomnadzor restricted access to Roblox in Russia. On 10 June 2026, Mintsifry announced the restriction had been lifted after the company brought its operations into line with Russian law, including age-based access restrictions.

So the platform is accessible again. That is the factual state as of this writing.

What this means for planning

Six months of restriction shows what a regulatory decision can do to a distribution channel. Any project built on a single platform carries that risk, and a Russian-market plan should carry that assumption in its timeline.

The practical version: keep your creative assets, mechanics and audience data portable, and avoid a launch calendar with no contingency.

Audience size

Roblox publishes global figures — 123 million daily active users in Q2 2026 — and does not break them out by country in its quarterly reporting. Anyone quoting a precise Russian audience number is estimating.

What can be said is that the platform’s growth is global and that the age-verified split skews young: 35% under 13, 38% aged 13–24, 27% aged 25 and over, across the 57% of daily users who have completed verification.

Working with the market

Language matters more than it looks. A world with machine-translated text reads as machine-translated, and the audience says so in the reviews.

Moderation is the other consideration. Content passes the same platform review regardless of the market it targets, and the community standards are global.

The honest summary

The platform works in Russia now. The audience size is not publicly documented at country level, so treat any specific figure as an estimate and ask where it came from. Build with the assumption that regulatory conditions can change, because in this market they demonstrably have.

What we do about it

Roblox brand activations that outlive the campaign flight

The usual activation goes live, spikes for a week, and is a dead server by the time the wrap deck is circulated. That is a design failure, not a platform limit — and it is avoidable.
