How does Roblox moderation treat brand advertising?

Advertising on Roblox runs under the platform's Advertising Standards: no personalisation for under-18s, category restrictions, and advertiser responsibility for content.

Brand advertising is permitted on Roblox and governed by a separate document, the platform’s Advertising Standards. The key restriction: ads may not be personalised for users under the age of 18.

What follows is what Roblox’s rules state.

What is prohibited outright

Promoting, depicting or mentioning R-rated films, TV-MA shows and their equivalents, along with other media carrying an explicit-content warning.

Promoting or soliciting public records lookups, personal investigative services and private investigators. Legal services are named separately.

Using unauthorised personal information relating to minors, including images and voice or video recordings. The platform states that where it finds such collection or distribution, the accounts and associated campaigns are suspended.

Personalisation

Ads may not be personalised for users under 18. For media planning that means the targeting mechanics familiar from social platforms behave differently here.

Who is responsible for compliance

The advertiser. The platform places the obligation on them to make content comply with the Terms of Use, Community Standards and Advertising Standards, and to keep it age-appropriate for the intended audience.

Consequences of a breach

The rules name the measures directly: action against the account, up to suspension of the account or of the ad campaign.

For a brand that means risking more than a rejected creative — it means a campaign stopped mid-flight. Get approvals moving early.

What this means for the brief

Age-restricted categories are out from the start: alcohol, gambling, anything that cannot be shown to children.

Creative gets approved for a mixed-age audience rather than for the segment you happen to care about.

The platform publishes no guaranteed review turnaround, so the campaign schedule needs slack.

The practical sequence

Read the Advertising Standards before signing off creative, not after a rejection. Budget time for rebuilding assets. And keep in mind that the standards get updated — they are worth rereading ahead of each new campaign.

What we do about it

Roblox advertising, and when it is the wrong thing to buy

Immersive ads are the easiest thing to buy on Roblox and the easiest to waste money on. Here is how each format behaves once real players meet it, and where the spend belongs instead.
