Does a brand need its own Roblox developer account?

A brand needs its own group, not a personal account: a world published under the company's group stays with the company when the studio changes. What to set up before development starts.

A brand needs its own Roblox group with a company account listed as owner. The developer receives permissions inside that group rather than ownership of it.

Creating a group costs 100 Robux. That is the entire price, and the decision belongs before development begins.

Why not a personal account

An experience published on a personal account is tied to one individual. That person leaves and the world leaves with them. The account gets suspended for reasons unrelated to your project and the world goes with it.

A group separates the asset from the person. Roles inside it are granted and revoked; ownership stays put.

How to assign permissions

The developer needs rights to publish and edit. That is a role inside the group.

The group owner is the company account. Not an employee’s account who will move departments in a year, and certainly not the contractor’s.

Restrict rights over group funds separately. Keep that list short.

When to do it

Before the first test build. The world is published under the group from the start, rather than moved there after launch.

Transferring a published experience between owners is technically possible, but it adds work at exactly the moment you want it least — right before a campaign goes live.

What to put in the contract

Who owns the group. Which permissions the contractor gets and for how long. What happens to those permissions after handover. Who holds access to the creator dashboard and analytics.

That last point gets skipped most often, and then the brand discovers it can only see numbers about its own world through the agency.

What the brand should end up holding

Owner access to the group, access to experience analytics, the project source files, and a list of assets used with proof of rights to them.

Without that set you own the world on paper while only one specific studio can actually work on it.

What we do about it

Roblox game development for brands that need it to work

Hiring a freelance Roblox developer gets you a place. Getting a world that people return to is a production problem — gameplay, economy, live-ops and analytics designed together, before the first block is placed.
