Why can't you just buy visits and call it done?
Purchased traffic does not affect Roblox recommendations — the platform measures quality on organic arrivals. What buying does deliver, what it doesn't, and how to sequence a launch.
Purchased visits raise the counter and do not raise you in recommendations. Roblox documentation states plainly that quality signals are measured on users who arrived organically from the recommendation sort.
What happens when a brand buys traffic
You pay for entries, the counter climbs, the report looks healthy. Then the interesting part starts.
If those purchased players leave in the first minutes, that registers in retention. The algorithm tracks the organic cohort separately, but a mass of arrive-and-leave sessions does nothing good for the world’s overall engagement picture either.
And if organic traffic never arrives, you are paying for every single entry until the campaign ends. Stop the spend and visits drop to near zero. You can see this on the pages of many branded worlds: a peak during the campaign and a flat line afterwards.
What buying traffic genuinely delivers
A first cohort. The algorithm needs people before it can evaluate an experience. Bought traffic solves the cold-start problem.
A peak day. If the brief is an event, reach and press coverage, media buying delivers it.
A hypothesis test. Bring in a thousand people, look at retention, learn whether the mechanic works.
What it does not deliver
Lift in recommendations. Returning players. A world that lasts.
How to sequence a launch
Build a world that retains. Then buy traffic.
That order matters because the platform treats the first days as a test: it shows the experience to small cohorts and expands based on the response. Pouring traffic into a world that does not retain is a way to fail that test faster and more expensively.
The check to run before spending
Bring in a small group and watch two numbers: how many leave in the first minutes and how many return the next day. If the first is high and the second is near zero, media spend scales the problem instead of solving it.
What belongs in the report
Separate purchased entries from organic ones. A visit figure without that split says nothing: a million visits on paid media and a million organic are two different results with two different costs for the next million.
Roblox advertising, and when it is the wrong thing to buy
Immersive ads are the easiest thing to buy on Roblox and the easiest to waste money on. Here is how each format behaves once real players meet it, and where the spend belongs instead.
