Roblox, Fortnite, or a mini-app: how to pick the right one
Not every brand game belongs on Roblox. A working operator's comparison of Roblox, Fortnite/UEFN, and Telegram/VK mini-apps, and how to choose without wasting the budget.
“Let’s do a metaverse thing” is a mood. Roblox, Fortnite’s UEFN, and Telegram or VK mini-apps solve different problems, and the fastest way to burn a budget is to pick one because it was in the news and then reverse-engineer a reason. Match the tool to the job. The three differ where it counts.
Roblox: depth and a place people return to
Roblox is a full platform with its own economy, discovery engine, and social layer. You can run a persistent world for months, ship UGC items players equip across the platform, wire in a real backend, and keep feeding the thing with live-ops. That depth is why the loyalty mechanics get interesting. We built Lenta, a grocery chain, a world where spending 1,700₽ in a real store printed a receipt code that improved your odds on an in-game prize wheel, with every player linked through Telegram and Roblox ID straight into Lenta’s loyalty CRM. It pulled 230,000 players in the first month.
The catch is that it is a genuine build and discovery is competitive. You earn attention with a good experience or you go without it. Reach for Roblox when you want dwell time and an owned place people come back to.
Fortnite / UEFN: the cinematic set-piece
UEFN builds gorgeous, high-fidelity islands that slot into Fortnite’s own discovery, and it skews to an older gaming crowd than Roblox. It is the right tool for a spectacle moment, a launch you want to look like a film.
The trade-offs are real. The production bar sits higher, the creative constraints run tighter, and the toolset bends less than Roblox when you want custom loyalty mechanics or a bespoke backend. Great for a set-piece, awkward for a CRM integration.
Telegram / VK mini-apps: friction near zero
A mini-app opens inside a messenger with no download, no avatar, no learning curve. That makes it superb for a casual arcade format bolted to a single clear action: leave a phone number, subscribe, redeem a code, connect a wallet. VK Heroes did 950k mini-app entries on exactly that kind of low-friction loop. We have also run Lenta’s Wolf-themed Telegram Mini App, with daily energy refills and purchases from 1,500₽, as the wide mouth of a funnel that a Roblox world sits deeper inside.
The limit is immersion. You tap a mini-app for a minute; you do not live in it.
The one rule that saves the budget
- Want dwell time, community, and a place you own? Roblox.
- Want a high-fidelity spectacle for an older gaming audience? Fortnite/UEFN.
- Want people in and converting in seconds? A mini-app.
- Want the funnel and the world together? A mini-app feeding a Roblox world is a strong pairing, and we have built exactly that.
Start from the outcome you are paying for, whether that is reach, leads, loyalty, or dwell time, and the platform falls out of it. That is the first thing we pin down in a pilot, before anyone argues about engines.
Not sure where your idea belongs? Tell us the outcome you want and we will name the honest platform, even when it is not the fashionable one.
Roblox brand activations that outlive the campaign flight
The usual activation goes live, spikes for a week, and is a dead server by the time the wrap deck is circulated. That is a design failure, not a platform limit — and it is avoidable.
